2019 Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund recipient
Marta Aurelia Rando, 17, was born in Riga, Latvia. She began her violin studies at age five. Currently she is studying at the NMV Emils Darzins Music School in Riga in the violin class of Nelli Sarkisjan.
She participates in competitions and in various concerts both as a soloist and as a chamber musician and orchestra musician. In 2017 obtained a 1-st place at “Baltic International young musician competition” and 2-nd place at “Augusts Dombrovskis 9th international competition”. In 2018 obtained a 1-st place at “Latvian professional and secondary education institution training program – String instruments” state competition. For three consecutive years she has participated in the International Youth Chamber orchestra under the guidance of Yuri Bashmet. Since 2014 is participating in performance “Operbühne” in Bavaria, Germany. In 2018 she was participated in the concert project “Side by Side” where she was playing Carl Maria von Weber ouverture “Oberon” in Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra.
Marta has participated in master classes by Rollo Kovac, Laurent A. Breuninger, Sergei Dogadin, Ingolf Turban and Stephan Picard.
