Recipient of the 2022 Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund

Pianist Raúl Canosa has been praised for his great technical skill and solid musicality (Codolario 12/22/2018). Mr Canosa obtained his Bachelor degree with magna cum laude at Katarina Gurska Music School in Madrid, is a Master’s graduate from Colburn Conservatory of Music in LA and currently studies at SMU in Dallas under guidance of Maestro Achúcarro.

Mr. Canosa’s studies have been supported generously by several grants and scholarships, such as: Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund, Excellence of Comunity of Madrid, Juventudes Musicales de Madrid, María Paula Alonso de Ruíz Martínez, Alvargonzáles, and Lieven Foundations, besides educational institutions. He is also award holder of the Wagner Association, lauded by Eva Wagner Pasquier who was captivated by this young pianist (awmadrid.es 2017).

He has performed as a soloist with orchestras in United States, Argentina and Spain with frequent appearances at the National Auditorium in Madrid. He has also performed in Viena, Musikverein Steinerner Saal; Bayreuth, Wagner Festival; Argentina, Teatro San Martin Tucuman; Texas, Granville Arts Center, Arlinton Music Hall;Los Angeles, Zipper Hall, Thayler Hall, Walt Disney Concert Hall; Sweden, Trollhättan Cultural Center; Puerto Rico, Steinway Society; Spain, Leon City Auditorium, Caja de Música Auditorium, Ateneo de Madrid, Juan March Foundation, among others. He has also participated in TV and radio programs in Spain, Argentina and United States.

Prize winner in several piano competitions: International Pedro Bote Competition, Tucuman International Piano Competition, Ciudad de Linares Piano Competition, Esteban Sánchez International Piano Competition, Shigeru Kawaii International Piano Competition and Mexico Villahermosa International Piano Competition among others. Most important teachers in his musical development besides Maestro Achúcarro have been Bruno Gelber, Jean-Yves Thibaudet, Jura Margulis and Nino Kereselizde.

Mr. Canosa’s interest in spanish music has led him to research and perform less well known pices by Turina, like Symphonic Rhapsody for piano and orchestra. As a result of his research and interests he recorded a CD entitled “Spanish Serenade and Dances”, where he juxtaposes various popular musical genres as treated by different Spanish composers; Albéniz, Granados, J. Rodrigo, Mompou, Montsalvatge and contemporaneous works by González Vallés, C. Danés and one of his own. This CD will be released in 2022.
