Born and raised in the favelas of Rio de Janeiro, where opportunities for young people are scarce, Nathan Amaral received a visit from a stranger one day that changed his life. The person at the door simply asked him “Would you like to play the violin?” Since then his life changed completely.
Nathat started learning the violin at the age of 12 in a social project that took kids out of the streets to learn music. From the class of around 200 kids Nathan was the only one who kept on the music path pursuing a career as a violinist.
Most recently awarded with the Paul Roczek award at the Mozarteum University (Salzburg) for best violin student, Nathan is first prize winner and laureate of international competitions, he is 2 times winner of the biggest prize in Brazil the Eleazar the Carvalho competition, Weimar “die besten zum schlüss”, the Wiener Klassik Preis, Cima Internatition violin competition, Ruggero Ricci violin competition at Mozarteum and the Waslau Burkowsky competition.
