2024 AFSF Opportunity Award recipient

Violinist Sophi Rochlin was born in Israel in 2001, and is currently studying in Folkwang University of the Arts (Essen, Germany) under Prof. Boris Garlitsky.

She takes part in festivals and performed in concerts at the Keshet Eilon spring, winter and summer International Mastercourses in Israel, Saline Royale Academy in France, Elba Isola Musicale D’Europa, Allegra Festival in Sofia, Geneva International String Academy, Schloss Akademie in Vienna, New Virtuosi International Mastercourse in England, and the Blackmore Academy in Berlin. She also participated in programs organized by the Jerusalem Music Center.

In 2018, she was awarded with a special prize in the Vladimir Spivakov International Violin Competition.

She participated in master classes with Vadim Gluzman, Miriam Fried, Zakhar Bron, Ilya Kaler, Ulf Wallin, Aleksey Semenenko, Dmitry Sitkovetsky, Itzhak Rashkovsky, Dora Schwarzberg, Sergey Ostrovsky, Qian Zhou, Olga Kaler, Grigory Kalinovsky, Ani Schnarch, Valeriy Sokolov, Giora Schmidt, and more.

Sophi is passionate about chamber music and played with musicians such as Vadim Gluzman, Sergey Ostrovsky, Peter Bruns, Wilfried Strehle, Giovanni Gnocchi, Julia Becker, Noémie Bialobroda, Witkowski Duo, Bernd Glemser and more.
She is a scholarship holder in Villa Musica- Schloss Engers, and is a part of Musethica Israel.

She played in orchestras such as the Young Israel Philharmonic orchestra, Elba Festival Orchestra, Orchestra Leonore, Dortmund Orchesterzentrum Orchestra and others.

Sophi plays on a J.B. Vuillaume violin from Mr. Yehuda Zisapel’s collection.
