2017 Arkady Fomin Scholarship Fund recipient
Brian started to play violin from age 8 and at age 10, he already displayed his musical talent by winning 1st place in the Junior Division of the DMTA competition. He has been an all region orchestra member for 5 years and all state orchestra member for 2 years. He has been a member of the Greater Dallas Youth Orchestra member since 8th grade and plays as assistant concertmaster for the Centennial H.S. Varsity Orchestra. He will play Meditation de Thais by Massenet as a soloist with his orchestra during their winter concert in 2017. Brian also received the Texas Music Scholar Award from the TMEA in 2015 and 2016. He has been studying with Mrs. Sue Yoon for 10 years and has had masterclasses with Dr. Greg Lee, Diane Kitzman and Susan Dubois. Besides his musical achievements, he is a debater who has won numerous tournaments and has competed at the State tournament in 2017. He strives to become a neurosurgeon, but music will continue to be a great part in his life.
